SHOES NEED LOVE TOO!

It is very important to take care of your shoes so that it can stay in shape even longer! Here are tips based on the shoes types you have purchased

LAMB LEATHER_edited.jpg

LAMB LEATHER LINING (for all BERCY series)

Lining is the inner part of the shoes that touches your skin, this includes insole - it is where you step on. BERCY only use high grade European lamb leather for the lining of our shoes. Besides the fact that lamb leather feels super soft for your skin, it can also last for a lifetime with a proper care and storage, and definitely it will not break apart or cracks like synthetic leather does. Here are few tips to take care of the leather lining ;

  • Use a damp clean cotton cloth to wipe of any grime or marks. Do not apply water directly or wash the leather as this may leave a watermark.

  • Apply a leather conditioner onto a clean cotton cloth and massage into all external and internal areas of the leather.

  • For stains, scratches or discolouration the leather will likely require professional restoration. We suggest getting in touch with our team.

SUEDE LEATHER (all ankle strap, pumps, and d'orsay model)

Suede is a the layer under an animal leather that has a super soft texture. Since suede is thinner and softer, suede is more vulnerable to damage. But it’s that softness and pliability that are so valued. Please only clean the suede lining when it is really necessary to keep its soft texture.

To clean suede, brush gently with a suede brush or even a soft toothbrush. Please DO NOT apply water.  If you have a stain that’s already dried, try a little bit of white vinegar. And like all leather types, you can always rely on professional cleaning as well.

CRYSTAL ACCESSORIES

CORROSION

Corrosion is the process by which certain materials, metals and non-metals, deteriorate as a result of oxidation. Unfortunately it works the same with any type of accessories that has metal on it.

Depending on the storage and usage, after a while, these accessories might turn a little yellow or black. But don't you worry, as soon as you notice this, immediately clean the metal parts with cotton buds between the crystals.

To keep the accessories looking great, please wrap back the accessories with the wrapping paper given in the box just like when you first open the box when you keep the shoes. Remember to store your shoes properly and change the silica gel every 2-3 months

STORAGE

- Before storing shoes, clean them thoroughly including the soles (you can use wet tissue and dry it with dry tissue).

-Then, store shoes in a dustbag and do not forget to put silica gel as well in the shoe box.

Air out your shoes every once in a while if you do not wear the shoes often, especially if you live in a damp / wet climate.

-It is also recommended to apply leather conditioner once in a while for leather material.

- DO NOT throw the silica gels away from the shoe box! They are very important to absorb the dampness, meaning they also help your shoes from being moldy.

- DO NOT throw the squeezed papers away! When you put back your shoes into your box or your shoerack, put back the papers inside the shoes to help absorb liquid and dampness as well as helping the shoes to stay in shape.

SPECIAL CARE FOR SATIN SHOES

1. Mind the occassion and weather

It’s important to know that satin is an extremely delicate fabric (even more fragile than exotic leather), and can get damaged and dirty very easily. The first thing is to always keep this in mind and handle accordingly, being extra careful when wearing them and mindful of the weather conditions, as well as your occassion.

2. Apply waterproof spray

Generally satin shoes can easily be cleaned using cotton ball wet with a little mix of water and detergen. But just to be safer, applying a waterproof spray every once in a while would totally help your satin shoes clean. The process of caring starts before even wearing your satin shoes for the first time. A waterproof spray will create a protective layer and prevent stains from penetrating the fabric.

3. How to actually clean

Avoid wearing your satin shoes in wet weather at all times, but if they do happen to get wet and dirty, use a cotton ball and tap it on the area so the dirty water or dirt will be taken first, and this way, you do not spread the dirt or stains all over! Soak a new clean cotton ball with a little mix of water and detergent, squeeze and press the soaked cotton ball with a towel till it almost does not have any liquid anymore , then tap and rub it around the area in circular motion gently till the stain or dust is gone. Press gently the rubbed area with a new towel / tissue to absorb the excess liquid / dampness. Then hairdry on the lowest heat.

4. Keep them in a dust bag

Keep your satin shoes clean in-between wear by keeping them in a dust bag, and be sure to dust them off sporadically – a dry cloth or even a nylon stocking will do the job.

5. Expert Touch

The best way to clean your satin shoes is with an air-pressure machine and clean water. However, we highly recommend that you to take them to professionals for cleaning.

6. Satin Inflexibility

Although satin gives a glamorous and beautiful look, satin material unfortunately is not as flexible as leather material, hence why without a proper storage (heavy pressure), care, or usage or even wearing a wrong size, wrinkle or damage will easily be seen. So, let's give our satin shoes a little bit more love :)
